I created this page all because of one rancher by the name of Curt Hurless. I first heard about this man back in January 2000 when his calf was killed. I have since read many articles about this rancher and his ordeal with the wolves in Idaho.

There have been a lot of questions I have asked myself about the facts, and claims he and others have stated about this situation....

I have placed here all the articles I have found so far and I will add more as I find them.

I am also going to put the questions I have here so that maybe others will see what it is that I am questioning. Hopefully this will raise questions of your own, or maybe even open some eyes.

Hurless has made several claims that have been unproven or that only he and his wife have witnessed. Kurt Hurless is the owner/rancher of the A.H. Ranch located by the main fork of the Salmon River between Stanley and Challis, in the small town of Clayton Idaho . He has Made a Claim that 3 members of the Twin Peaks Wolf Pack killed one of his calfs the night of January 23, 2000. Mr Hurless was paid $1000 for this calf by Defenders of Wildlife. Mr. Hurless has made a lot of claims that have no proof and because of this 4 (maybe) Innocent wolves have been killed. He claimed that the wolves that killed the calf and chased his horses where members of the Twin Peaks Pack so the USFW service did a "lethal control action" and shot and killed 4 members of that pack. It is also found out that the ranchers where leaving the afterbirth in the fields where the cows are calving.This is the time of the year when the first calves are born and/or aborted calves appear.

My Questions are as follows:

Hurless claims the pack chased his horses 2 times. They saw the pack do it the first time but where gone the second time. Yet he claims he is being held hostage? He wasn't home the second time? NO Proof on the second time yet he shoots his dog for chasing cattle? Yet because of his second claim USFW kills the 4th Wolf.
Hmmmmm....Maybe a way to get "Rid" of the pack?

Hurless claims that the "Gizmo" Does not work yet he has had No other cows/calves Killed? And he doesn't want it removed? Why have it if it Doesn't work?

Government Officials in the area Making threats to "Get rid" of the Wolves.

Yes his Calf was killed and he got $1000 from Defenders of Wildlife (The calf was Champion breed). That was about a month ago and USFW and Defenders of Wildlife have been there to help him every way they could. He got $1000, and Alarm system, 4 dead wolves all for 1 calf? Somehow this 1+1 is NOT equaling up to 2, more like 6.

He shoots his dog for chasing his cattleand leaves the dogs body in the field and tells everyone that the wolves drag off the body of a dead dog! He does not tell anyone that HE killed the dog until after it is published and the seed is planted that the wolves killed the dog! Hmmmmm....Maybe he only claimed that the wolves killed the calf when it was really his dog that killed it? Maybe it was his dog that chased the horses the second time? This really makes me wonder if ANY of Hurless' stories are true?

Seems Kind of funny how 4 animals (2 wolves, 1 dog, and a fox where poisoned by 1080 not that far from Hurless Ranch)

Bangs is Quoted as saying on Feb. 11, 2000 "I wonder what caused the Twin Peaks Pack to leave the abundant wildlife and nearly total safety of the Loon Creek area in the Frank Church Wilderness that lies on the other side the mountain?" Well gee if you had a choice of chasing your food or having it set right in front of you which would you choose? Not only that but if Someone is setting out bait (ie. the 1080 baiting that someone is doing) and the wolves are following what do you think they are going to do?

From all the articles it is pretty obvious that they do not want the wolves there and never did...If the government issued them the kill permits with the attitudes of those people it will be just like signing the wolves death warrants. Who is to say that the ranchers "say" that the wolves where chasing livestock and that is why they shot and killed them, when actually the truth would be that the wolves where sitting on a hilltop? I am sorry but I do NOT agree with giving them or anyone else the permits.

Hurless complains that he is sleeping in his truck out in the field with his cows because the pack has come back to his area. Well MAYBE if he didn't leave dead animals (ie. the dog HE shot, cattle abortions, and so on) in his fields and MAYBE if he accepted Defenders of Wildlifes offer to hire and pay for a ranch hand for him then he could sleep in his own bed!

I would also like to know if all the tracks they are finding are from the wolves or from Hurless' dog that he shot for chasing his cattle?

Also this little "Gizmo" alarm is it recording when it sounds it's alarm (ie. date and time) or are we going on Hurless' word on when it is sounding it's alarm?

These are only some of the questions I have come up with. If I find out the answers I will add them here.
